Hand stitching and journal writing embody a rhythm, a steady pace that can imbue calm into rough waters and tumultuous times. Studio A artist Lisa Scott is a writer, graphic and textile artist for whom the pattern of text and stitch has brought insight and stability.
Lisa first brought her extensive library of personal journals to Studio A in 2017. Her journals contain some truimphs, but many struggles. Lisa was driven to translate her life story into a visual artwork.
Please join us at the Australian Design Centre to celebrate this creative journey. For one night only you are invited to an intimate showing of Lisa's very personal work. A delicate textile and text based dress inspired by the artists' lifetime of journal writing. Encompassing Lisa's vulnerability and courage, the work juxtaposes her fairytale dreams with the often unsettling reality of lived experience.
