Seed Stitch Contemporary Textile Awards recognise highly skilled and diverse textile artists. Presented for a third time by the Australian Design Centre, Studio A were proud to have THREE artists selected for the award in 2022! Victoria Atkinson for Disco Fever & Rock'n'Roll, Catherine McGuiness for Little Little Little Little Monkeys and Damian Showyin for Building Grides, were all named as Seed Stitch finalists.
The exhibition showcased a diverse selection of contemporary textile practices, from felting to fine embroidery, with themes ranging from satirical humour to environmental concerns. The competition this year attracted 48 entries from NSW and the ACT and the exhibition featured outstanding work from the 15 finalists.
Big congratulations to Damian Showyin who was awarded the Digital Fabrics Award for his work Building Grids during the opening night event, receiving a $500 Gift value for for custom fabrics
