Studio A curated the first of the Disability Led Family Days at the 24th Biennale of Sydney! Our artists took over White Bay Power Station with a series of works and performances thoughtfully designed for event-comers to participate in.
The ultimate romantic, Meaghan Pelham, delighted visitors as the Love Poem Sorceress. Anyone curious about their romantic future could visit Meaghan at her beautifully adorned love booth, dressed for the occasion in a stunning pink outfit she designed in the studio. The Love Poem Sorceress was in demand, with visitors lining up to receive their "love fortune".
Skye Saxon, supported by weavers Damian Showyin and Adam Mandarano, led Weaving Dreams. The drop-in workshop allowed audiences to make threads from various found materials, including beads, trinkets, and sparkles, and then attach them to a giant woven portal to create a communal sculpture.
Catherine McGuiness donned an angel costume of her creation to become the Roaming, Wish-Granting Angel. Catherine fluttered through White Bay Power Station, offering and granting wishes (and stickers) to Biennale visitors lucky enough to be graced by her presence.
Finally, the day culminated in Victoria Atkinson's Spin the Wheel and Let's Get Ready to Rumble! In a full get-up, complete with her own wrestling mask and cloak, Victoria closed off the day in true performative wrestling style. Guests and viewers were welcome to the ring to join Victoria in an awe-inspiring "post-match" performance.
