‘I’ve known Jeff McCann over a few years. We follow each other on Instagram. He is a professional artist who paints lots of murals and makes beautiful art and stickers to sell. He loves making and wearing costumes and wigs, and does lots of art for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras,’ says three-time Archibald finalist Emily Crockford, who is an artist at Studio A in Sydney.
‘I paint lots of murals too and I love all my art very much. Jeff says he is inspired by my work, and I am inspired by his artwork too!
‘I went to Jeff’s studio, which is so cute and tiny, to do my sketches. Jeff dressed up in one of his costumes and a wig for me. We danced together with a flower he had made. He loves eyes and flowers. Jeff gave me a little gift – some of his stickers, cardboard badges and an artwork. This inspired me to paint Jeff in one of his artworks where he is the main person, “Botanical Jeff”, having fun in the daisies.’
