Catherine McGuiness is now (officially) a Notable Woman of North Sydney!
In celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, North Sydney Council launched their Notable Women of North Sydney project. The initiative aims to recognise the exceptional women of North Sydney and educate the community on their achievements.
Mayor Zoë Baker of North Sydney Council kicked off the project by honouring 12 exceptional women as the first Notable Women of North Sydney. Honourees include environmental campaigners, lifelong volunteers, a Catholic saint, and our very own Catherine McGuiness right alongside them! And to recognise and spread awareness, each Notable Woman now features in commemorative displays across North Sydney.
“North Sydney is a community that finds power in its diversity and values care, kindness and respect. International Women’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate this and to launch a project that helps us recognise more Notable Women of North Sydney.” - Mayor Zoë Baker.
Catherine joined the Mayor at the Ensemble Theatre to celebrate the announcement and listen to a panel discussion featuring an inspiring conversation led by three generations of First Nations women.
Congratulations to Catherine and all the women recognised as Notable Women of North Sydney.
