Artbank has invited Thom Roberts to curate the Artbank Sydney Window gallery. Thom is called the “arranger” at Studio A and is constantly moving things around and reframing them. For this exhibition, with support from Studio A, Thom brings his unique analysis of the world to the Artbank collection.
Tower Dog Red Rattler is Robert’s first exhibition as curator and artist, to which he brings his sense of humour and unique perspective on the world and the people and objects in it, and explores the extensive Artbank Collection. Roberts creates cunning connections and playful paths through his artwork selections as they remind him of people he loves, songs he enjoys and all of his favourite things, he invites the audience along for the ride as we step through the Window into Thom’s world.
“These artworks make me think about people I know. They make me think about things I like, like crown readings, silvery trains, toy cars, tower dogs and Melbourne Victoria. I love my Maccas and Hungry Jacks - that's why I painted them a few years ago. I hope all these pictures together make people feel happy.” Thom Roberts
