The National Visual Art Education Conference (NVAEC) at the National Gallery of Australia brings together teachers, artists, cultural practitioners and thought-leaders to inspire and energise best-practice teaching and learning in the visual arts.

NVAEC 26 includes keynote addresses from Tony Albert, After the Rain artists, and international guests, plus workshops, gallery experiences, performances, social gatherings and Teachers’ Voice presentations.

Join artist Thom Roberts and explore his playful approach to portraiture and Studio A’s education resources designed in partnership with specialist education consultants.

In this workshop Thom will let you in on some of the secrets of his own creative practice and help you create your own ‘funny face portrait’. Thom will share his love of faces and his favourite pastimes of photocopying, mirror-imaging and collaging to create new faces in ‘Thom’s way’.

The workshop will be delivered both in-person and online.

In-person: Jan 20 at the NGA, 11am - 12:30pm.
Online: Jan 21, 10am-11:30am.
