Curated by Amelia Skelton, Inherent Vice borrows its title from John Barbour's Inherent Vice (2005-2006), and focuses on the unruly pleasures, flaws and temptations embedded in material practice, as well as our fascination with an object's tendency to deteriorate from within. See works from a diverse group of artists, including Studio A's Catherine McGuiness and Victoria Atkinson, as well as Studio A facilitator Lily Golightly.

"Through works that stain, sag, fray, bulge, collapse, fade or refuse to behave, the exhibition foregrounds textiles and other unstable materials as active, provocative forces. Across varied approaches, Inherent Vice celebrates artists who embrace vulnerability, excess and material disobedience, opening up experimental ways of making, thinking and holding together."

See Inherent Vice in the Third Space building at the National Art School from July 23 to August 14.
